I. Screen Printing (Screen Printing)
Principle: Use a screen plate to apply ink onto the surface of the plastic, single layer / multi-color printing.
Advantages: Low cost, fast delivery, batch-friendly, multiple color options, can be done on flat / small curved surfaces.
Disadvantages: Generally poor wear resistance, complex gradients, fine text lines prone to smudging, limited multi-color offset printing accuracy.
Suitable for: Ordinary plastic casings, accessories, daily items, low-cost batch products.
Compatible materials: ABS, PP, PVC, acrylic, hard plastic.
II. Transfer Printing
Principle: The silicone rubber tip is dipped in ink, and then transferred onto the concave, irregular, small area surfaces.
Advantages: Suitable for irregular, curved surfaces, small logos, fine fonts, better adhesion than screen printing.
Disadvantages: Low efficiency for large-area patterns, weak color gradation.
Suitable for: Small plastic buttons, knobs, pipe fittings, small precision accessories.
Compatible materials: Most hard and soft plastics.
III. Laser Marking (Laser Engraving)
Principle: High-energy laser burns / vaporizes the surface layer of the plastic to form a permanent mark, including shallow engraving, deep engraving, and filling paint laser engraving.
Subdivisions:
Solid-color laser engraving: Utilizing the color difference of the plastic (such as black material engraving white text), it never fades and has extremely strong wear resistance.
Laser engraving with filling paint: After creating an incision, fill it with color paint, resulting in a strong three-dimensional effect.
Advantages: Permanent non-fading, extremely high precision, can do fine fonts / complex patterns, no ink, environmentally friendly, can be used for serial numbers, QR codes.
Disadvantages: Weak color effect (mostly single tone), higher than screen printing / transfer printing cost.
Suitable for: High-end accessories, electronic plastic parts, tool accessories, outdoor products, products requiring wear resistance / anti-counterfeiting.
Compatible: ABS, PC, PA, acrylic, etc. (some soft PP/PE effects are poor)
IV. Heat Transfer Printing (Heat Stamping / Film Transfer Printing)
1. Flat Heat Transfer Printing
Transfer film + high-temperature pressure, transfer the LOGO pattern onto the plastic surface.
Advantages: Rich colors, gradient / pictures / full-color effect is good, pattern is complete.
Disadvantages: Poor scratch resistance, easy to fall off at high temperatures, not suitable for small edges and corners.
Suitable for: Appearance parts, decorative plastic parts, gift accessories.
2. Water Transfer Printing (Coating Transfer Printing)
The pattern floats on the water surface, and the plastic part is immersed in water to adhere to the pattern. Suitable for complex curved surfaces, irregular parts.
Advantages: Full coverage of 3D curved surfaces, integrated pattern + LOGO on the entire surface.
Disadvantages: Multiple processes, high cost, not cost-effective for small batches.
Suitable for: Plastic casings with complex shapes, decorative parts.
V. Gold / Silver Stamping (Hot Stamping)
Principle: High-temperature pressure transfers the electroplated aluminum foil onto the plastic surface.
Advantages: Strong metallic texture, high-end and eye-catching, good gloss, good adhesion.
Disadvantages: Only metallic colors (gold / silver / laser color), cannot do colored patterns, limited to curved surfaces.
Suitable for: High-end gift plastic parts, beauty accessories, luxury casings, brand decorative LOGOs.
VI. In-mold Injection Logo (Integrated, Pre-processing)
Principle: Place the logo film / engraving mold in the mold cavity in advance, and the LOGO is directly integrated with the plastic part during injection molding.
1. Mold Etching (Relief / Concave Letters)
The mold cavity is directly engraved with the LOGO, and after injection molding, the plastic part has a raised letter / concave letter.
Advantages: Lifelong non-fading, extremely wear-resistant, no need for secondary processing, low production cost for mass production.
Disadvantages: Changing the LOGO requires mold repair, only suitable for long-term fixed styles, large batches, not recommended for small batches.
Can be combined with: Concave letter filling paint, raised letter coloring to enhance visual effect.
2. In-mold Label / In-mold Transfer Printing
Apply the LOGO film with the LOGO synchronously during injection molding, integrated together.
Advantages: Pattern + LOGO integrated, waterproof, scratch-resistant, smooth surface.
Suitable for: Plastic containers, appliance casings, large batches of plastic parts.
VII. Inkjet Printing / Inkjet Printing
Principle: Industrial inkjet printer for immediate printing. Advantages: Variable content (serial number, date, different LOGOs), online production for quick marking
Disadvantages: Simple patterns, mostly small characters and barcodes, average visual texture
Applicable: Batch coding on assembly lines, accessory numbering + simple LOGOs
VIII. Stickers / Labels (Simple Temporary Solution)
Apply LOGOs with self-adhesive labels or PVC labels.
Advantages: Lowest cost, flexible model modification, preferred for small batch / temporary use
Disadvantages: Prone to curling, falling off, not resistant to friction / immersion, low档次
Applicable: Samples, temporary packaging, short-term use of accessories
Quick selection reference (based on requirements)
Low budget, large quantity, plain LOGOs → Screen printing
Small accessories, curved surfaces, fine small characters → Transfer printing
Require wear resistance, permanent non-falling, fine patterns / QR codes → Laser engraving
Need color, pictures, gradient effects → Heat transfer printing
High-end texture, metallic luster LOGOs → Gold stamping
Long-term fixed style, extremely large quantity, pursuit of ultimate durability → Mold etching (injection molding integration)
Complex and irregular shapes + full pattern → Water transfer printing
Temporary use, frequent change of LOGOs / small orders → Self-adhesive stickers
Additional notes
Soft rubber / silicone plastic: Prefer transfer printing, heat transfer printing; ordinary screen printing ink is prone to peeling;
Food / accessories in contact with the human body: Prefer laser, integrated mold (no ink is more environmentally friendly);
Outdoor / wear-resistant scenarios: Prohibit stickers, ordinary screen printing; prefer engraving, mold raised characters
