I. Temperature and Water Temperature Control


- The recommended water temperature is 40-50℃, with a maximum of no more than 60℃. Do not pour boiling water directly onto the skin.
- The heat application temperature for adults should not be too high. For the elderly, children, and those with weak constitutions, it should be controlled at 40℃ or below.
- It is essential to use a cloth cover and a towel as a barrier. Do not place hot water bottles directly against the skin.
II. Duration Control
A single hot compress session should last for 15 to 20 minutes, and it can be done 2 to 3 times a day.
Do not apply heat continuously to the same area for a long time to avoid cold burns.
III. Prohibited Groups & Prohibited Areas
- Prohibition of hot compresses: Skin abrasions, burns, eczema, redness and inflammation, bleeding areas
- For acute sprains or contusions, hot compresses are strictly prohibited within 48 hours. Cold compresses should be used first to reduce swelling
- People with diabetes, numbness, nerve disorders, hemiplegia, cognitive impairments should use with caution. They are prone to unconscious burns
- Pregnant women should avoid hot compresses on their abdomen, lower back, facial triangle area, and scrotum
- Hot compresses are prohibited for those with fever, acute inflammation, thrombosis, varicose veins, and malignant tumors
IV. Ensuring Operational Safety
- Do not fill the water too much. 2/3 of the capacity is appropriate. Drain out the air before tightening the lid to prevent leakage and burst.
- Check if the bag is aged, cracked, or the seal is loose. If any damage is found, stop using it immediately.
- Use it lying flat or on your side. Do not apply excessive pressure or bend the hot water bag.
V. Other Reminders
- Apply heat before going to bed. After falling asleep, remove the heat pack immediately. Do not keep it close to your body throughout the night.
- After applying the heat pack, dry the skin promptly and keep it warm to prevent catching a cold from the wind.
- If the skin turns red, painful, or develops blisters, stop using it immediately and apply cold compress for treatment.
